1. Acceptance of these terms
Scanara is a mobile document scanner with AI text extraction, published by Northstack Studio ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using Scanara, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. License to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Scanara on devices you own or control, for your personal or business document-scanning needs. The app is currently provided free of charge, with no subscription or in-app purchases.
3. Your account
Some features, such as cloud sync and backup, require you to sign in. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Let us know promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
4. Your responsibilities
- You must own the documents you scan, or otherwise have the right to scan, store, and process them.
- You may not use Scanara to scan, store, or share content that is unlawful, infringing, or that violates the rights or privacy of others.
- You may not reverse-engineer, resell, or abuse the app or the services behind it.
5. Your content
The documents you scan and the text extracted from them are yours. You grant us a limited license only to store, process, sync, and display that content back to you so the app can function. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.
6. AI and OCR output disclaimer
Scanara's text extraction is powered by AI (Anthropic's Claude vision) and is provided for convenience. While we aim for high accuracy, extracted text may contain errors, omissions, or misreadings, especially with poor lighting, unusual fonts, or handwriting. You are responsible for reviewing extracted text before relying on it. We make no guarantee as to the accuracy or completeness of any extracted text.
7. Service changes & availability
We may add, change, or remove features, and parts of the service (such as cloud sync or text extraction) depend on third-party providers and an internet connection. The app and its services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
8. Termination
You may stop using Scanara and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or misuse the app. In serious cases, such as abuse or unlawful use, we may act without prior notice.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scanara is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or that scans, extracted text, or exported files will be accurate or preserved without loss.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Northstack Studio will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or documents, arising from your use of Scanara. Because the app is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Northstack Studio operates [governing-law jurisdiction to be specified], without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be handled by the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Scanara after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
